The developer also lists the controller’s left stick for movement. The F binding does not mean an axe is obtainable in the demo: see the axe guide.
Open the pause menu and inventory
In the browser demo:
- Click inside the game so the game has keyboard focus.
- Press Tab to open Paused.
- Open Inventory if you need to manage your hat.
- Choose Back to Game to resume.
Clicking into the game matters: when the page has focus instead, Tab can move between browser controls.
Steam pause key
The developer identifies Tab as the default Steam pause key and says it can be changed in Settings. Check your binding there if you have remapped it. Old posts about a missing menu do not mean the demo has no pause key.
Browser demo running slowly?
The developer suggests trying a different browser, the itch.io app, or a downloadable version. If the browser option remains slow, try the Steam demo or Windows download. These are options to try, rather than guaranteed fixes for every device.
